Remedial massage uses specialized techniques to locate and repair damage to muscles, tendons and joints. If you are training at the gym and not stretching adequately, then this style of massage can help you with the usual aches and pains. Massage therapy supports and speeds up the body's own repair mechanisms, making the recovery from exercise that much faster. A series of deep tissue techniques, along with passive stretches are performed by the therapist allowing your body to gain much benefit from completely relaxing into the stretch. It can be gentle or strong, deep or shallow. The therapist will work to your pain threshold.

 

DEEP TISSUE

Deep tissue massage involves applying firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It's used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

SWEDISH / RELAXATION

Swedish massage is a smooth flowing style massage combining a series of movements that apply gentle pressure between muscles and bones allowing deep relaxation to occur. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood, release toxins from the muscles, reduce stress, improve circulation and ease and tone muscles creating an environment for your mind and body to recharge and rejuvenate.

So what exactly is so beneficial about massage treatment and what can it do for you?

It also enhances the immune system and aids recovery from soft tissue injuries by increasing blood circulation to injured areas. No other single health technique is more versatile.

Massage reduces waste products such as lactic acid & carbonic acid

that build up in muscles after activity and cause cramping, discomfort, and irritability.

Massage dilates or opens up blood vessels,

improving the circulation and relieving congestion. Massage also increases the number of red blood cells, especially in cases of anemia.

According to some authorities, massage may burst the fat capsule in the subcutaneous tissue so that the fat exudes and becomes absorbed. In this way massage, combined with proper nutrition and exercise, can aid in weight loss.

Massage improves the circulation and nutrition of joints and hastens the elimination of harmful particles in the synovial fluid. It helps to lessen inflammation and swelling in joints, thereby alleviating pain.​
